Erdey Searcy Eye Group Celebrates its
TEN-YEAR ANNIVERSARY Thanksgiving 2002!!

This special occasion falls on Thanksgiving weekend; traditionally a time of family gatherings, holiday meals and most importantly…giving thanks for all our blessings. As we reflect on the accomplishments of our first decade, all of us would like to personally thank you, our eye care professional "family", for your assistance and support.

Ten years ago, on Thanksgiving weekend, The Erdey Searcy Eye Group began our Mission. Many of you may recall that Dr. Erdey and one receptionist first "hung our shingle" on a humble new trailer located behind the main wing of Mount Carmel East Hospital. To our surprise, for the two years we occupied this small facility, our patients felt quite comfortable and enjoyed the warmth of these "temporary" quarters. Eventually, our rapidly expanding patient base required that we relocate to our considerably larger current office setting. This move not only provided our tireless administrator, Pamela Andrews, an opportunity to further develop the infrastructure and staffing necessary to better serve our patients, but it also made our participation in FDA studies involving the Excimer Laser and Implantable Contact Lenses easier.

Our clinical staff has grown considerably. We initiated the Optometric Residency Training Program in 1995 and in that year, Dr Janson took the important step of enrolling as our first resident. He has since become our diligent Clinical Director. Dr Errington joined us in 1995 and became Director of Education. Dr Searcy brought much additional experience, expertise and enthusiasm when he joined our group in 1999. Drs Eppley, Neal and Bosner have more recently rounded out our professional team. We are blessed to have a number of staff who have provided years of dedicated service; Mary Deas (1994), Kylea Young (1998), Dawn Willet (1999), Laura Cato (2000), and Vicki Bennett (2000).

To better serve our patients' cataract, cornea transplant and laser eye surgery needs, we opened the East Columbus Surgery Center in 1999. It has received the highest level of AAAHC certification, and continuously demonstrates 99% patient satisfaction by survey result.

During our first decade, our surroundings have changed but our Mission has not. With your assistance, we have helped an ever increasing amount of people "see clearly". We look forward to further strengthening our relationships within our local eye care professional community. We have much to be thankful for - past, present and future.

Happy Thanksgiving! ~ Richard A. Erdey, MD, Gregory D. Searcy, MD & Staff
